Q: Can I use a fan or hair dryer to speed up the drying time on my project? A: You can use a hair dryer on low and continually keep it moving across the surface. Do not hold the hair dryer in one spot for an extended length of time.

Q: Does my surface need to be primed before I use the FolkArt® Shinys? A: FolkArt® Shinys can be applied to unprimed porous surfaces, however, painting on a primed surface will reduce the number of coats required for a shiny finish. The initial coat on an unprimed surface may not appear shiny because the paint is absorbed into the surface. The shine or gloss appearance builds with additional coats.

Q: Are FolkArt® Shinys the same as Apple Barrel® Gloss? A: No, FolkArt® Shinys are not the same as Apple Barrel Gloss. FolkArt® Shinys were developed to have a higher gloss finish than Apple Barrel Gloss. Also, FolkArt® Shinys are color matched to the corresponding FolkArt® Acrylic Color and have the same high pigment load and intense color.

Q: On what surfaces can I use FolkArt® Shinys? A: FolkArt® Shinys can be used on wood, paper mache, canvas, terra cotta, galvanized tin and most porous surfaces. They are not recommended for use on glass or ceramics.
